Piercing Salon
FAQ
We discourage any form of swimming for at least 4 weeks after you have been pierced. Therefore, if you are planning to go to the beach or on a vacation with swimming, it is a really good idea to wait with getting pierced. A fresh piercing should never be submerged in water, unless you’re showering.
Additionally, it is important that you are informed about the following if you are considering getting pierced at LINE HALLBERG:
- We do not pierce children younger than 7 years old.
- If you are under 16 years old you need to bring a parent or guardian.
- We do not pierce pregnant women orย women who have given birth within the last 3 months.
- We can not pierce you with your own jewellery.
- We only pierce up to 4 piercings at a time.
- You can cancel your appointment 48 hours prior to show.
We will not pierce you, if:
- you have an acute infection,
- you have uncontrolled bleeding disorder,
- you have impaired capacity to consent,
- your doctor advises against it,
- you have had recent radio- chemo- immuno- and steroid therapy (6 months at least),

- you are going through a medicated treatment for acne (isotretinoin) or steroid treatment, (wait until after the treatment).
We only pierce with jewellery that our staff is able to perform quality control on. When you bring your own jewellery to the shop, we can’t be sure of what material your jewellery is made of, what alloys it contains and the level of biocompatibility it offers. Only very few materials are suitable for an initial piercing, therefore, we need to make sure that our standards of quality are being met. Our piercing salon only uses certified implant-grade titanium or 14 karat solid gold and all jewellery go through a long cleaning and sterilization process before it is inserted in a fresh piercing. We do our best to set up a high standard both on cleanliness and quality, therefore we kindly ask you to wait until the piercing is fully healed, before inserting your own jewellery.
Our piercing salon only uses certified implant-grade titanium or 14 karat solid gold and all jewellery go through a long cleaning and sterilization process before it is inserted in a fresh piercing.
You can get pierced with our titanium jewellery which starts at 200DKK or most of the pieces from the L. Collectionย made from 14 karat solid gold with true diamonds. The price of the solid gold piercing jewellery starts at 3000DKK.
Some piercings, such as the Daith piercing, are pierced with a ring right away, as it is the most suitable jewellery choice for the placement. We are not recommending it for other piercings, as they apply extra pressure to the piercing because of their curvature, they move more, causing more friction and trauma, and theyโre often too thin and too small in diameter. Due to these factors, you can expect your piercing to take a longer time to heal and be more susceptible to irritation and potential bumps. To avoid these unnecessary issues and offer a calmer and smoother healing time, we pierce with labret studs at a perpendicular angle to the body, with a little extra length to accommodate swelling during the first phases of the healing process. After downsizing your piercing you keep that stem until the piercing is fully healed and voilรก โ you can now wear your stylish ring.
As a goldsmith company, we want to bring you the finest jewellery with the most exquisite quality, so why should LINE HALLBERG piercings be any different? โ While piercing guns may seem to be a quick, easy and convenient way of creating holes, they have huge drawbacks in terms of sterility, tissue damage and inappropriate jewellery design. We consider unsafe any procedure that places vulnerable tissue in contact with either non-sterile equipment or jewellery that is considered not medically safe for long-term internal wear. Such procedures place the recipient at an unacceptable risk, as reusable ear piercing guns can put clients in direct contact with blood and fluids of previous clients making these devices a way of transmitting potential bloodborne pathogens.
With that knowledge, we only utilize sterile and disposable equipment that is suitable for body piercings, the same goes for materials โ LINE HALLBERG Piercing Salon only uses materials which are certified as safe for an internal implant, and only those should be placed inside a fresh or unhealed piercing.
Read more about the issues with piercing guns at the APPโs website.
A foreign object is penetrating your skin, so you can feel a certain amount of discomfort. The good news is that it is not as dramatic as it sounds, and the pain only lasts for a second. Some piercings can have a higher level of a pinching sensation than others depending on the kind of tissue and/or mucous membrane and the number of nerve endings that reside in the area. But once again, it only lasts a second and our staff will explain everything to you regarding the piercing before performing it, and you will of course always be free to ask any questions or state any fears or concerns regarding the piercing procedure.
There are various health considerations to deliberate before deciding on having a piercing done. Certain chronic illnesses and even medications can affect the healing process and immune system. If this is the case, our team suggests medical consultation before the appointment. If that is not the case, but you are still concerned about the impact of certain piercings on your body, we recommend you book a consultation or write us an email about your concerns atย piercingsalon@lineandjo.comย so we can analyse the issue and clarify said concerns.
A piercing has the potential to be a temporary adornment (especially when compared to a tattoo) because the jewellery can be easily removed. However, there is a risk of irreversible changes to the body, including discolouration, a mark such as a scar, bump, or dimple, or a permanent hole. Many piercings shrink or close quickly, but some piercings will remain open indefinitely without jewellery in them. The placement of the hole, the length of time you have worn the piercing, the thickness of the jewellery that was in it, and your individual tissue all affect whether or not your piercing stays viable after removing the jewellery. Scarring and tissue discolouration at the piercing are relatively normal occurrences, especially if you have a history of darkened scars. This can happen even when a piercing is performed properly and heals uneventfully. Migration often leaves a small track of scarring or discolouration from where the piercing was initially placed. Rejection usually results in a split scar. Piercings of the ear cartilage are prone to disfigurement if a serious infection develops. The cartilage can collapse, causing a cauliflower ear appearance.
Excessive scarring sometimes occurs in reaction to piercing, and it can be very difficult to resolve. If you have a history of problems with scarring or keloids (large growths of fibrous tissue), piercing is generally inadvisable.
Different piercings have different healing times depending on the kind of tissue or mucous membrane pierced, your own individual biology and lifestyle or if thereโs a pre-existing condition. As body piercers, we can only give you a general window of the expected minimum waiting times. For example,ย the earlobe goes usually about 8 weeks of healing and cartilage piercings take a minimum of 6 months to heal. Some piercings take as much as 9 months or a full year for the piercing channel to fully form.
For us to better focus and be able to provide a better experience you should bring no more than one friend/partner/family member with you.
If you wish to take pictures or videos in the piercing salon, please do ask our staff if they are okay with it, before doing so – especially if you plan on posting it on social media.
Do not remove, insert or handle your jewellery yourself – we will do that for you.
Do not place any jewellery on any counter or surface, we need to preserve cleanliness and hygiene at our salon.
Disinfect your hands when you arrive.
When you get pierced, a long stem is inserted so that there is space enough for the area to swell up. When the swelling has gone down, it is important to change into a shorter stem, in order to avoid any migration or crooked angles. This is called a downsizing.
No, we do not recommend getting pierced while pregnant. The bodyโs immune system undergoes serious changes during pregnancy. These changes have a negative effect on healing, and may even prevent piercings received shortly before becoming pregnant from finishing healing. Sometimes even healed piercings will act up while you are pregnant. For these reasons, we even advise against stretching existing piercings during pregnancy. There is also a slight but important risk that if you experience a complication, such as an infection, your pregnancy or fetus would be negatively affected. While the chances are slim, itโs just not worth the risk, and no reputable professional would knowingly offer you services while you are with child. It is best to let your body focus on the important, complex and demanding task that it is handling already. We also recommend you wait at least 3 months after youโve been given birth before booking a piercing appointment; During the first stages of nursing, the body is still recovering from all the changes during pregnancy.
In our collective, massive experience, we have no awareness of even a single case of a woman who wished to breastfeed and could not as a result of having had a nipple piercing. The milk ducts are a multiplicity of little pore-like ducts. Therefore, the likelihood of closing them all off from a piercing of the usual size is next to none. Nipple jewellery should be removed during actual feedings, as it can pose a choking hazard and may interfere with latching. As a result, some milk may come from the site of the piercing during nursing, which is not harmful or problematic.
Chlorhexidine and other alcohol-based solutions are proven to be too harsh to clean open wounds, continuously. While these products successfully kill transient bacteria, it also damages healthy cells and good resident bacteria which will delay the healing. We recommend sterile saline as it is a gentle choice for piercing aftercare. Mixing your own sea salt solution is no longer a suggested practice fromย the APP. Mixing your own solution will commonly result in the product being far too salty and strong, this can over-dry the piercing and interfere with healing. We strongly encourage you to use a sterile saline labelled for use as a wound wash. Contact lens saline, eye drops, and other saline products should never be used on a body piercing. Your saline ingredients should list .09% sodium chloride as the only ingredient.
We recommend buying our aftercare containing everything you need, to take good care of your piercing.
It is incredibly complicated for your body to heal a piercing channel for your jewellery, and along with it are plenty of different complications that might occur. Most of these issues can be easily resolved if addressed correctly and quickly.
We operate sterilely and follow our clients closely during their process. We give extensive information about aftercare and every guideline they need in order to keep their piercings clean and happy. When you follow suggestions, the likelihood of an infection is incredibly low. Because of this, we urge you to contact us immediately if any problems occur. You can do this either through our email address atย piercingsalon@lineandjo.comย or by bookingย a piercing check-up appointmentย and specifying in the booking notes what the appointment is regarding.
If you would like to read more about troubleshooting and when to contact us, or a doctor, please visitย the APPโs page for troubleshooting.

We use internally threaded body jewellery only. That means that there is an internal screw on the stem of the piece, and with movement, (due to cleaning, hair, hats, scarves and any kind of trauma in general) once this system starts to unscrew it is a matter of time until the little attachment in the front can fall off.
With that understanding, making sure that our jewellery is tight regularly is of utmost importance. It can be very inconvenient to lose jewellery in general and piercing jewellery can be extra frustrating due to its difficult insertion or if the piercing is still healing.
We recommend you to check your jewellery frequently to minimize the risk of this occurring. Occasionally when cleaning, you can tighten it by holding on to the back of the stem, and gently twisting the top clockwise. It’s a good habit to avoid going in counter clockwise movements when cleaning, to avoid loosening the screw.

Topical numbing creams are not suitable to use before having a piercing. They will not be very effective, as the cream does not numb the tissue deep enough for you not to feel the pinch of the needle. But more importantly, they constrict and change tissue texture and tension.
Most of these products work with lidocaine and vasoconstrictors. These chemicals constrict blood vessels, which help contribute to the process of numbing. That constriction however will also cause the skin to move and shift. This means that we can do a perfectly straight piercing on numbed tissue, but as soon as the effects from the cream wear off and the skin relaxes, the piercing will end up being crooked or off, and in most cases, crooked piercings need to be removed and re-pierced as they will not successfully heal.
Because of these reasons, we reserve the right to turn you away and ask you to come on a different day, if you show up to your appointment having used any topical numbing products.
